Our family participated in the Holy Triduum this year. I hope we are building great memories and traditions for our kids as well as worshiping God! We are so privileged to be able to attend. I'm pretty sure I was in college when I learned about this beautiful set of Liturgies!
Michael had his feet washed at the Mass of the Lord's Supper on Thursday. I wished I had my camera to capture the kids crowding around the end of the pew to watch the "action." Fr. and his helpers did a great job setting up the Altar of Repose for Thursday night. It felt like entering into the Garden with Jesus.
On Friday, we went to the Good Friday service. No Mass that day at all anywhere in the world. We listened to the Passion from St. John, venerated the Cross, then received Holy Communion. Nicholas was pretty excited to be able to kiss the feet of Jesus. Alex - not so much.
Everyone got all spiffed up for Easter Vigil Mass on Saturday. Thanks Grandma K. for all the great Easter clothes! Fortunately, Alex fell asleep on the way there; Nicholas fell asleep about an hour in! It was a good 1.5 hour Mass. James held out strong the entire time! I think Sophia and Will enjoyed that time with Mom and Dad at Mass. They got to see the Baptism and Confirmation of several people. Cake for everyone afterwards!
Sunday morning, the kids got little treats in their Easter baskets, then it was off to Church for one last Easter Mass! It is just so wonderful to go to all of them. Taking five kids isn't always easy. On the whole, they did a good job. The three year old acted like a three year old. The big kids participated very well.
He is Risen, Alleluia!
